Depression over Bay intensifies, light rain likely in coastal A.P.

Fishermen cautioned against venturing into the sea

Distant cautionary signals have been hoisted at the ports in Visakhapatnam, Machilipatnam, Nizamapatnam and Krishnapatnam of Andhra Pradesh, after the depression over the Bay of Bengal and north Andaman Sea intensified into a deep depression on Wednesday morning.

According to meteorology officials, the depression laid centered 390 km off Maya Bandar in Andaman Islands, 810 km off Paradip coast in Odisha, 920 km off Sagar Islands coastt in West Bengal and 960 km off Khepupara coast in Bangladesh.

“The depression is very likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm during next 24 hours and move north-westwards adjoining the north Odisha and Bangladesh coasts,” India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials said on Wednesday evening. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Yanam till November 10.

Meanwhile, The Cyclone Warning Centre (CWC) in Visakhapatnam has cautioned fishermen against venturing into the sea till Thursday evening.
