Dredging Corporation of India Limited has taken up construction of toilets under its Corporate Social Responsibility programme in 2014-15.

The total cost of the project, comprising 30 units in schools at Thotagaruvu, Vepagunta, Sabbavaram, Bheemili, Vadapalem, and Majjivalasa, is Rs.42 lakh.

The cost is inclusive of bore-well for one school and electricity for another.

The construction activity commenced in December 2014. The company handed over two toilet complexes at Thotagaruvu and Vepagunta on Thursday.

Addressing simple functions organised at the respective schools, DCI CMD Capt. D.K. Mohanty said the company had taken up the prestigious project under the Swachh Vidyalaya Programme of the Central government.

Toilets for the remaining four schools would be completed by March.

DCI had already handed over state-of-the-art medical equipment worth Rs.33 lakh to KGH.

Director (Operations and Technical) Cmde. P. Jayapal and Director (Finance) S. Charles were among those present.
