The police on Saturday night arrested a couple on charge of duping number of youngsters promising outsourcing jobs in various government departments. The couple allegedly collected about ₹5 crore from youngsters from Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada, the IV Town police said.
The accused have been identified as Reddi Gowtham, grandson of TDP senior leader R. Satyanarayana, and Lochini.
Fake appointment orders
“The couple has promised to provide outsourcing jobs in Panchayat Raj, Forest and other government departments to the youth. After collecting money, they also gave several victims fake appointing orders,” said IV Town Inspector Eswara Rao.
Gowtham used to go to the Secretariat with his grandfather in the past. “He used to show those pictures to gullible youth. Believing his words, many youth had paid money to him,” the Inspector said, adding that they had received complaints from seven youth, while there could be more than 100 victims.
Cases have been registered. The accused have been remanded.
