A two-day exhibition-‘The Fair’ organised by Akhil Bharatiya Marwari Mahila Manch (ABMMM) began here on Saturday. Nearly 50 stalls in two floors showcase handmade-oxidised accessories, bandini chiffon saris, kurtis in cotton, georgette and net, designer dupattas in floral stitch, bedspreads made of earthy khadi silk, multi-hued patiala sets and readymade designer blouses in vibrant permutations. The expo has attractive collection of ethnic Rakhis and armlets made of pearls, kundans and wooden beads.
The fair will not put off those who wish to collect party wear clutches made of crystal and stones, smart buckled leather bags, cute and attractive potli bags. A wide range of books are on display by the Book Mark. For those who want to know about their future, tarot reading is also on the corner.
Inaugurating the expo, Municipal Commissioner B. Ramanjaneyulu said Marwaris from different places have come here to showcase their handcrafted products. “I can see a mini India here. The city promises to be lovable, liveable and sustainable. The expo appears to have good collection of items that charm the denizens,” he said.
Part of the proceeds will be donated to the Icha Foundation and the Lion Omkara Deaf and Dumb School, said president of ABMMM Manju Rati. The Fair will be open tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
