It was a hectic day for women, planning the menu, cooking healthy food in the microwave and presenting the dishes in an appealing fashion.
To promote hygienic and green cooking using an oven, Mallika e-kitchen contest was organised by LG Electronics at Hotel Fortune Inn Sree Kanya here on Saturday.
Close to 109 dishes were dished out by the contestants that comprised main course items, innovative desserts and cakes. The concept is to celebrate women and their contribution to the culinary world incorporating healthy ingredients, said Marketing Manager of LG Electronics D. Meherjee. “The first prize winner and the runner up will be eligible to participate in the national level competition,” he said. The contest consists of three stages-zonal, regional and national levels across the state.
T. Lakshmi Manjula was crowned winner of Mallika e-kitchen contest 2012 for preparing chicken without a single drop of oil. Sharing her excitement, she said it was thrilling to be a part of the contest and get recognised as the first prize awardee. T. Hema was the recipient of the runner-up award for baking ragi cake. Third prize winners include P. Janaki and Renuka.
The consolation prize winners were K. Chandravathi, M. Lakshmi, Naga Ratnam Naik, Ponnada Padmaja, D. Narmani Raj, S. Geeta, D. Sirisha Rani and G. Devi.
With most of the women switching over to green cooking, the concept of microwave cooking is fast catching up in the city.
