City to host national dance festival

A two-day festival of dances from different states is being organised by the Indian Society for Cultural Cooperation and Friendship (ISCUF) here on October 17 and 18.

ISCUF AP State Council is conducting the 4th Multi-State Cultural Dance Festival as part of its programme to promote cultural cooperation and friendship among different people and national integration and create awareness on different cultural values, general secretary of cultural festival committee T.S. Sukumaran has said in a statement here.

The programme will be conducted at Kalabharati Auditorium from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Entry is free for all the programmes.

Artistes from Andhra Pradesh, Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat, Kerala, Maharashtra, Manipur, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Telangana will perform dances that reflect the cultural traditions of their respective states.

The programme is being conducted on a grand scale to mark the platinum jubilee celebrations of ISCUF and a reception committee, comprising MLA V. Ramakakrishna Babu and V.V. Rama Rao, K.S. Chalam, V. Balamohandas and C.S. Rao as patrons has been set up to ensure success of the programme.

Minister for Information and Public Relations Palle Raghunadh Reddy, MPs, MLAs, ISCUF national general secretary K Subbaraju and other officials and non-officials are expected to participate.

Sekharmantri Prabhakar, Kurra Vijay Kumar, NB Murthy, K Satyanarayana of ISCUF, NN Rathod, M Ravikumar, Panchali Benerjee, Vinay Kumar and other representing other organisations were present.
