The City Police are on an expansion and modernisation mode. On the manpower front, after a long time 325 civil and 87 for armed reserve constables have been recruited and have joined duty.
Of them, 114 are women PCs (civil) and 14 women are in the (AR). This will give us the leeway to start the proposed SHE Teams in the city, said Commissioner of Police T. Yoganand.
The SHE Team members will be trained to check eve teasing and crime against women and will be deployed shortly, he said.
On the modernisation front, the city has acquired the first Falcon mobile command control centre bus and it will make its debut on Tuesday at the Chief Minister’s Dharma Poratam Deeksha, being held at AU Engineering College grounds. The bus is unique and is a command control centre on its own and can be deployed at all strategic meetings and on important assignments, said the CP.
The fully air-conditioned bus can accommodated an eight-member trained staff and is loaded with eight video monitors, on satellite dish for live transmission of video and audio feeds and has drone.
According to ADCP (Admin) K. Mahendra Patrudu, the mobile CCC can handle about 35 to 40 CC TV cameras at a time and transmit live feeds to the main CCC at the Commissioner’s office and also to the DGP’s office in Amravati.

The bus is also equipped with a state of the art communication system.
Mr. Yoganand also informed that another crane for lifting vehicles parked at non parking zone has been acquired to take the total to three.
“Very soon, we will have 1500 CC TVs connected through the AP State Fibre Net and another 500 being installed by GVMC will be integrated to the CCC. We will have two CCCs - one at GVMC and another at the CP’s office. With 2000 government-run cameras and those installed by private people under the AP Public Safety (Measures) Enforcement Act-2013, the entire city will come under CC TV network and this serve not only as a deterrent but help us in solving crime,” said Mr. Yoganand.
