Chief Minister inaugurates subway

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday inaugurated the subway constructed at a cost of Rs.10.28 crore at Aseelmetta and launched the beautification of roads proposed at a cost of Rs.30 crore at Siripuram. The subway was part of the Pendurti corridor of the Bus Rapid Transit System. It is expected to considerably reduce congestion at Aseelmetta as about 1,300 buses pass through it from the RTC Complex. The 493 m-long sub-way is 7.5 m wide and has a footpath.

Union Minister of State for HRD D. Purandeswari, Rajya Sabha member T. Subbarami Reddy, Ministers – Vatti Vasant Kumar, P. Balaraju, and Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Kondru Muralimohan, Government Whip Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao, former Mayor Pulusu Janardhana Rao, and Municipal Commissioner B. Ramanjaneyulu participated.

Beautification

At Siripuram, Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy unveiled the plaque and released the brochure for city beautification. It envisages planting saplings as per the suggestion of the Parliamentary Committee on Science, Technology, Environment and Forests, creation of hawkers' zones, removal of encroachments in cellars, widening of roads and developing junction, modern parking facilities, improving footpaths, central lighting, erecting traffic lights and creation of cycle zones.
