AP Nirudyoga Aikya Porata Samithi activists staging a dharna demanding implementation of Kamalanathan Committee report, in Visakhapatnam on Friday.

The activists of Andhra Pradesh Unemployed Youth Forum on Friday staged a dharnademanding the cancellation of the GOs 622, 623 and 39 pertaining to the change in the pattern of Group II exam and recruitment of panchayat secretaries.

The earlier pattern was based on objective-type, but the government is planning to merge the executive cadre into the Group I exam and convert it to a descriptive paper, said forum representative S. Hemanth Kumar.

“This is being done by the GOs 622 and 623 and we strongly oppose it as the candidates are not prepared for the descriptive format,” he said.

Vacant posts

Mr. Hemanth also pointed out that Kamalnathan Committee, in its report, had stated that about 1.42 lakh jobs were available, but the TDP government had issued notification for only 10,000 posts.

The forum members also demanded the scrapping of the GO 39.

Salary issues

“As per the GO, the government is planning to recruit panchayat secretaries on a contract basis for one year with an adhoc pay of ₹15,000. The government should make the posts permanent and pay the minimum salary of ₹25,000,” said Mr. Hemanth.
