Three major components are set to become part of the Central Park of VUDA coming up in the heart of the city.

Authorities are now said to be planning an “iconic” fountain that will cost around Rs.4.5 crore. Another feature now being planned is a water amusement that includes an ice island that requires 25,000 litres of water every day.

Earlier, it was a fountain with some attractions.

But VUDA is now going in for a 64-event fountain.

Since maintenance of the park is a big task, VUDA is considering handing over the maintenance for five years to the agency that takes care of the water amusement park, say sources.

Technical bids

Technical bids for the fountain and its maintenance and water amusement, and maintenance of the park have been called.

The third is a yoga hall that will accommodate up to 200 people with an instructor to guide practitioners both morning and evening.

Among the other works, landscaping, which has been completed between the tracks, gives a beautiful look to the park. Cycling track, over bridge, children play area, and event lawns are ready. Work on ticket plaza and bonsai garden, bamboo garden, and floral garden is still going on.

External jogging track and parking, completed two years ago, is under use now.

Work on the park coming up on 20.42 acres with an estimated cost of Rs.35 crore started in April 2010. Work costing about Rs.12 crore is yet to be completed.

Officials are confident that once the bids are finalised for the major works and maintenance, the target of readying the park by March would be met.

Coming up in 20 acres, it will have water amusement, ice island, and
