Central Jail inmates to go on fast

Political prisoners along with ordinary inmates of the Central Jail here would go on a one-day fast on September 7 in protest against the death penalty handed over to members of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) Perarivalan, Murugan and Shantan; Afzal Guru and the Jharkhand cultural troupe members Jeetan Marandi, Anil Ram, Manoj Rajwar and Chatrapati Mandal, who were allegedly involved in the Maoist movement.

Demands

The political prisoners also listed their demands, some of which were treating Maoist prisoners and those branded as Maoists as political prisoners and to set them free; repeal of Jail Manual prepared by the British in 1834 and bring in reforms; implementation of demands agreed in 1994-95 after the Naxalite political prisoners went on an agitation and implementation of the menu in a transparent manner.
