‘Cadaver transplants picking up in Telangana’

October 25, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 10:04 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

Organs of nearly 20 brain-dead persons were harvested and transplanted to the needy patients during the last 10 months after the Jeevandaan programme for AP commenced in AP on January 26, Jeevandaan Chairman and Vice-Chancellor of NTR University of Health Sciences T. Raviraju said here on Saturday.

Four to six organs were harvested from each brain-dead persons with certainly two corneas, and were sent to hospitals in the State and Chennai and Telangana. AP has been recognised as an active transplantation State and if people get more motivated about organ donation many people who needed transplantation would benefit, he said.
