A dharna was organised by the district council of the CPI at the Collectorate here on Tuesday demanding the arrest of the managing director of Bommarillu Farms and Villas Raja Rao for what it alleged was cheating of depositors by his firm. The company collected deposits from members for purchase of plots in their layouts. One of its agents collected deposits from 30 contract workers, who were employed at the King George Hospital (KGH).
These contract workers told the CPI district council secretary J.V. Satyanarayana Murthy that the MD was not to be seen for the past 20 days and was trying to flee with their money. It was learnt that the branches of the company in Tirupati and Nellore were already closed.
The participants in the dharna raised slogans demanding the arrest of Raja Rao and return of their money. Mr. Satyanarayana Murthy and Visakhapatnam Contract Labour Union (AITUC) leader G.D. Naidu led the protest.
