The body of a newborn baby boy was found in a drain at Yerrigedda Colony in 60th ward at Gajuwaka area on Saturday.

Local residents noticed the body when some stray dogs were moving towards it.

The police did not find any clues to detect, who had abandoned the baby. Police suspect the baby was killed and the body was dumped in the drain.

Condemning the incident, women’s organisations in the city opined that the parents of the infant should have at least cremated the infant's body instead of throwing it into the dustbin.

A case has been registered and the investigation is on.
