Apart from plans to create tourism facilities at Dallapalli, close to Moda Kondamma temple, and Lammasingi, now drawing attention for temperatures nearing zero, plans are afoot to promote tourism at Matsyagundam near Paderu.

Matsyagundam has a perennial stream by the same name flowing by and has picturesque surroundings. Plans to promote ecotourism include constructing a hanging bridge, a small office, restaurant, and cottages.

The bridge connects about 10 villages, improving access to the villagers, and gives an opportunity to tourists to enjoy the landscape around. Officials consider the perennial stream as a big attraction to tourists.

Located 9-km from Paderu in G. Madugula mandal, Matsyagundam is considered a spot with good tourism potential.

In view of this, the APTDC is now planning to get a detailed project report (DPR) prepared for development of tourism facilities at Matsyagundam, it is learnt.

People from eight villages have formed a development committee and urged VUDA officials to help repair and restore the facilities it created earlier under the Tribal Sub-Plan. VUDA has developed landscape, which the locals want to be restored. A hall was earlier constructed with Rs.5 lakh and it required some repairs. A local deity’s temple required a roof over it. The residents recently submitted a memorandum, which was endorsed by the Collector and referred to the Tourism Department.

“The village now needs to be developed in a holistic manner with small cottages, greenery, and improving the pathways,” said a top official overseeing the tourism plans in the district.

The Siva temple at Matsyagundam is also a big draw during Sivaratri.
