BDL sponsors skill training of 175 youth

Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) has sponsored 175 underprivileged youth for a training organised by Indo-German Institute of Advanced Technology (IGIAT), as part of its CSR initiative.

A fund of around ₹46 lakh was spent on this initiative, the BDL officials said.

143 trainees land job

The youth were educated on employable technical skills. So far, 143 trainees have been employed by various industries such as Alstom Transport India, Kolkata; Kobelco Cranes, Tada; Eqic Dies & Moulds and Toshiba, Hyderabad, Surya Solar, Chirala; RHI Clasil, Synergies and Avantel, all in Visakhapatnam.

The training focused on imparting employability skills.

In total, six programmes were offered in seven months.

Around 20 women were trained for the jobs of sewing machine operators.

S. Narayanan, General Manager (HR), Hyderabad; S. V. Kameswar, General Manager, BDL, Vizag unit; Krishnavardhan Kontheti, Manager (Corporate HR)-CSR and D.S.N. Murthy, Manager (HR) interacted with the trainees on Thursday. The BDL signed a memorandum of agreement with the IGIAT on March 27.
