Noted Telugu cine lyricist Sirivennela Seetha Rama Sastry was presented with national eminence award and ‘Sahasravadhani’ Kadimella Vara Prasad with Avadhana Puraskaram instituted in the memory of Kopparapu Sodara Kavulu on Sunday.

A grand felicitation accorded to him by noted film director K. Viswanath, along with actor Brahmmanandam and Assembly Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad at the 16th anniversary of Kopparapu Kavula Kala Peetham at a function at Kalabharati Auditorium here. Terming Sirivennela as an outstanding poet and lyricist, Mr. Viswanath said it was heartening to see that the award constituted in memory of the great poet duo of the last century.

Audience enthralled

Founder of the Peetham, Maa Sarma’s rendition of the verses of the poet duo evoked a warm response. Earlier, exponent of Tarangams G. Sampath Kumar and Alamuri Radhakumari’s rendition of sage Narayana Theertha’s tarangams enthralled the audience.

HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, AP Special Chief Secretary L.V. Subrahmanyam, Journalist Potthuri Venkateswara Rao, BJP State spokesperson Cheruvu Ramakotaiah, retired professor Bethavolu Ramabrahmam, physician Kutikuppala Surya Rao among others were present.
