MP K. Haribabu has urged DRM, East Coast Railway, Waltair, Chandralekha Mukherjee, to increase the allocation of rakes to the steel plant and the port, and also augment coaches on trains originating from the city.

The DRM called on him on Monday to discuss various developmental issues pertaining to Waltair Division, specifically Visakhapatnam.

Mr. Haribabu expressed his happiness over the halt provided to Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad Garib Rath at Duvvada. He sought halt for the Visakhapatnam-LTT Express too at Duvvada.

Provision of additional coaches wherever feasible, especially for originating trains such as Ratnachal Intercity Express, Janmabhoomi Intercity Express, and Tirumala Express, and Prasanthi Express were discussed. The DRM said that efforts would be made to augment general coaches on all important trains.

The MP also urged Ms. Chandralekha Mukherjee to make efforts to develop Duvvada railway station to meet the growing demand of the people of the industrial area.

In order to develop tourism in the Visakhapatnam–Araku sector, Mr. Haribabu urged the official to monitor the progress of Vista-dome (see-through) coaches with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation for early implementation of the project. The MP said that he would soon convene a meeting with officials of the Visakhapatnam Port Trust and the Railways to find a permanent solution to the dust pollution in and around the areas of the port, a press release said.
