Army jawan killed

An army jawan, Maji Shankar Rao (24), from Benavolu village in Chodavaram mandal of Visakhapatnam district reportedly died in firing against militants, somewhere in Mizoram, on Tuesday morning.

Apart from the news of his death, the family members have not received any details till late Tuesday night.

According to sources in Chodavaram, Shankar Rao had joined the Indian Army in 2010, and was serving in Madras Regiment.

He was posted in Mizoram for anti-insurgency operation.

The body is expected to reach Chodavaram on Wednesday.
