‘Amend Panchagramala G.O.’

Claiming that the G.O. 229 related to regularisation of ‘panchagramala’ land would not benefit thousands of farmers, CPI(M) leader Ch. Narsinga Rao on Tuesday sought amendements to it.

“Though the G.O. will benefit those having panchagramala site within 300 square yards, farmers who have been tilling the land since long will stand to lose,” he said.

The GO would not be applicable to people who have bought house-sites after 2008. Further, the 30 % rate is very high as all the land are located in the Survey No. 275 in which the land prices are above ₹30,000, he pointed out.

“For the land for which rate is not prescribed, the government has kept the power of taking a final call on the land cost. We fear that it could be very high. The G.O. 232 which lays out the procedure says if the land is not registered in the name issued by Simhachalam temple, it will not confer any right and people might have to pay the current market price,” Mr. Rao said.
