Students who bagged 10 GPA in SSC exam honoured

Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao has said Andhra Pradesh bagged 55 awards at the national level in the last three years due to cooperation and participation of people in various development programmes initiated by the government.

He participated as a chief guest at the ‘Maha Sankalpam’ programme organised to mark the conclusion of the 7-day ‘Nava Nirmana Deeksha’ at the VUDA Children’s Arena here on Thursday. He said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had administered the oath on June 2 taking a commitment from one and all to work for the development of the State. The HRD Minister said a special action plan was made for implementation of the development activities. Discussions and meetings were held on one issue on each day of the week-long programme. He said despite a deficit budget, the government was implementing various welfare and development programmes in a big way.

The Chief Minister administered the ‘Maha Sankalpam’ to the people of the State from Kakinada and Mr. Srinivasa Rao administered the oath to the people of the district, for its overall development. Measures were taken to increase the per capita income from ₹1,42,821 to ₹1,57,000 in tune with the objective of the government to achieve 15 growth this year.

He said the plan was to construct 557 check dams and 20,000 farm ponds would be dug to improve the groundwater resources and to make the district drought-free. Buildings would be constructed for all schools and panchayats in the district and cement roads would be laid by the end of next year and 285 panchayats would be made ‘Open Defecation Free’ (ODF) as part of plan to make the State ‘Swachch Andhra Pradesh’.

Freedom fighter Koppula Appa Rao, Director of GITAM Law School Y. Satyanarayana and nine students of Zilla Parishad and Municipal Schools in the district, who bagged 10/10 grade points in the SSC Examination this year, were felicitated on the occasion. Visakhapatnam East MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu, Collector Pravin Kumar, VUDA Vice Chairman Basant Kumar, GVMC Commissioner M. Harinarayanan, Joint Collector G. Srijana, JC-2 D.V. Reddy and trainee Collector Misha Singh were present.

A public meeting was held at Kancharapalem to mark the valedictory of ‘Nava Nirmana Deeska’. Among others West MLA PVGR Naidu addressed the meeting.
