The City Task Force officials searched the house of the Viplava Rachayitala Sangham’s senior member Chalasani Prasad at HB Colony here on Thursday morning, looking for joint secretary of APCLC C. Sugunadham.

Mr. Sugunadham left early in the morning, while Mr. Prasad was out of town. The police entered the house in which an APCLC leader A. Annapurna and two others were present and looked for Mr. Sugunadham. It is believed that he was listed as an accused in the January 23 Killamkota exchange of fire incident or some other case and they wanted to arrest him.

Aggressive approach?

The police seem to have adopted an aggressive approach to counter the allegation in the gang rape of a tribal group of women at Bhalluguda by Greyhound policemen on January 22 and are seeking details of the incident from those making the allegations. On Wednesday, they arrested APCLC district members Juvvadi Suryanarayana and Neelakantham at Paderu. Ulli Simhachalam at G. Madugula was arrested in connection with the Killamkota exchange of fire.

It was reported that the police started inquiring about Mr. Sugunadham since Wednesday night with the neighbours of Mr. Prasad and others and their presence on Thursday morning also created some tension in the vicinity. Mr. Sugunadham, an employee of GCC, was earlier arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and came out on bail.
