Stone laid for hawkers’ zone near City Central Park

Foundation was laid for a hawkers’ zone near RTC Complex opposite VUDA City Central Park here on Saturday.

The complex covering 10,500 square feet area comprises 52 shops.

Visakhapatnam South MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar who performed the bhumipuja said it was a big step forward for hawkers who carry out business on push-carts. He thanked VUDA Vice Chairman T. Baburao Naidu on behalf of the people of his constituency.

The MLA said buildings of Victoria Government Hospital in his constituency were in a dilapidated condition and VUDA was asked to construct new buildings with of Rs.15 crore. VUDA was now presently preparing designs. Mr. Ganesh Kumar said while Rs.10 crore would be spent by VUDA as a part of development of his constituency, as directed by Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana, Panchayat Raj Minister Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu promised to give another Rs.5 crore. Mr. Baburao Naidu said shops would come up in 5700 square feet area and would be ready by April or May. The designs will be tourist-friendly with facilities for shopping at night, he said. Designs for Victoria Hospital would be ready soon.
