Villagers, students and teachers of Dumbriguda in the Visakha Agency took out a rally in the village on Saturday protesting against the Maoists damaging a BSNL cell tower in the village on July 13.
They said the Maoists were preventing the Government facilities from reaching the public and with the cell tower out of action their communication to other parts was cut off and 108 ambulance service too would not be contacted if some one fell sick in the village. OSD C.M. Trivikram Varma, who also participated in the rally, said the Maoists were subjecting people to difficulties through their acts and their violent acts were only to make their presence felt in the area. Deputy Superintendent of Police T. Srinivasa Rao said people would teach a lesson to Maoists if they did not stop violence. Inspector of Araku S. Lakshmana Rao, Sub-Inspector of Dumbriguda Koteswara Rao and others participated.
SP Vineet Brij Lal assured that the police department would discuss with the BSNL officials to get the cell tower at Dumbriguda restored.
