Plea to WB team

July 21, 2010 06:29 pm | Updated 06:41 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

Association for Regional Tribal Development (ARTD), which works for welfare of tribals and urban poor, has asked Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation to make its slum development policy people-centric.

Seeking change in its orientation, ARTD secretary Pragada Srinivasu appealed to the World Bank delegation visiting the city to review implementation of JNNURM activities here on Wednesday, to help develop slums in a better way.

In a representation, he said on Tuesday that GVMC had not yet conducted a comprehensive survey on status of slum-dwellers and was not involving NGOs in implementation of JNNURM programmes in the slums.
