Officials told to make half-marathon on Beach Road a success

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Ministers and other prominent persons are likely to participate in the first ever night half-marathon scheduled to be conducted on the Beach Road here on July 2, Collector N Yuvaraj said.

Reviewing the preparations for the event being organised in private-public partnership in his chambers here on Wednesday, the Collector asked the officials to take steps to ensure that it would go off without a hitch.

Some 7,500 persons are likely to participate in the 3K, 5K, 10K and 21K runs being organised as part of the Bay Marathon and it would require some 2500 volunteers, the Collector said and asked the representatives of the organisers, N Murali and Madhu, to clarify how many volunteers they would be able to get so that the district administration would arrange for balance.

Assigning tasks to different departments, the Collector asked the organisers to take the responsibility of hosting the visiting personalities, including their stay. He asked the GVMC to organise the lighting and drinking water for the participants. He directed the PR department to take care of publicity.

The Collector said they would make efforts to rope in the Navy in the organising of the mega event.

Incharge PD DRDA Maheswara Reddy, and Assistant Director State Information Centre A Babji were among those present.
