New Divisional Railway Manager N. Kasinath assumed office on Friday relieving D. Kamilla. Prior to taking up present assignment, he was Chief Signal and Telecom Engineer (Projects) in Southern Railway at Chennai.
The new DRM reviewed functioning of the Waltair Division of East Coast Railway with the officials in his chamber in the presence of Mr. Kamilla and Additional Divisional Railway Manager Chain Sukh Jeengar. Prior to coming to the office, he visited Simhachalam temple.
Hailing from Kollam (Quillon) in Kerala, Mr. Kasinath is an Electronics and Communication Engineering graduate from Government Engineering College at Jabalpur and joined the Indian Railway Service (Signal Engineers) in 1982. He has experience in planning, executing and monitoring telecommunication projects in Northern Railway, North East Frontier Railway and Southern Railway.
Safety of trains on rail tracks through Protection Warning System, Route Relay Interlocking and Mobile Radio Communication Projects has been his major area of function. Before joining the Indian Railways he had worked with the National Thermal Power Corporation for about one and a half years.
One of the major challenges for the new DRM will be balancing Railway Board desire to run all long-distance trains via Duvvada and aspirations of Vizagites to have all trains running via Visakhapatnam railway station.
Completing some of the ongoing works at Visakhapatnam and Duvvada stations for improving passenger amenities, would be among his priorities.
