Need to popularise Hindi stressed

The need to popularise Hindi in official transactions was emphasised at the World Hindi Day celebrations conducted by Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) here. Speakers at a lecture session on ‘Hindi as Rajbhasha, Rasthrabhasha, Sampark Bhasha and Global Scenario’ spoke on the steps being taken for implementation of the official language.

DCI Chairman and Managing Director Rajesh Tripathi welcomed. The programme was inaugurated by Director (Finance) S. Charles. Director (Operations & Technology) M.S. Rao, former visiting professor of Turkey University K. Seeta Lakshmi, Education Officer and Command Hindi Liaison Officer of ENC Cmde. K.S.Noor, VPTt’s former Senior Hindi Officer Hemlatha Rao and Senior Hindi Officer of DCI Raja Sekhar spoke.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Srikrishna Malviya of Kendriya Vidyalaya, spoke about the importance of Hindi as language and medium of connectivity. He shared his experience about his grandfather and freedom fighter Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya’s efforts for establishment of Banaras Hindu University.

Dr. G. Ramnarayan, Ex-Deputy General Manager (Official Language) DCI, S. Krishna Babu, ex-AGM (OL), RINL, Dr. P.K. Jayalakshmi, HoD(Hindi), St. Joseph’s College for Women, Dr. K. Shanti of Gayatri Vidya Parishad and all the HODs of DCI and other employees participated in the programme.
