Intermediate student drowns

An Intermediate second-year student of a private college drowned in RK Beach when he had gone to the beach to take a holy dip marking the culmination of Maha Sivaratri celebrations on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as K. Sairam (18), resident of Arilova area in the city. Police said Sairam along with his friend came to the beach for the holy dip. While they were swimming in the waters, Sairam was caught in a strong current which took him deep into the sea. The dead body of Sairam was washed ashore near Pandurangapuram.

The Three-Town police have registered a case and investigation is on.
