Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said industrial workers should not resort to strike and vitiate the atmosphere as it would send wrong signals to investors.
He was addressing a large gathering here, about 65 km from Visakhapatnam, at a meeting conducted to lay foundation stone for the Centre-sponsored MSME Technology Centre in the presence of Union MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra and Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu.
Taking exception to the opposition to land acquisition for the proposed Bhogapuram international airport and unrest in some industrial establishments in the Atchutapuram area, Mr. Naidu said industries would usher in economic growth and improve livelihood of people in the neighbourhood, besides providing jobs to the locals.
Mr. Naidu, who held a brief interaction with a few workers of Brandix India Apparel City (BIAC), said he would consider their demand for revision in wages after receiving the report by a committee set up by the government. He said pending revision, the workers would get an interim relief of Rs. 1,300 per month from July month wages.
The Chief Minister said that Visakhapatnam with robust infrastructure and connectivity had bright scope to be developed into an industrial and tourism hub. He said the proposed Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor would change the investment landscape of the region.
Flyover sanctioned
He complimented the people of Visakhapatnam for becoming No. 1 district in contributing to the State’s GSDP.
The Chief Minister announced allotment of site for setting up an R&D and training centre by the Pharma Export Promotion Council of India (PHARMEXCIL).
He also sanctioned Rs.20 crore for construction of a flyover at Atchutapuram junction.
He made the announcements in response to the demands made by Anakapalle MP M. Srinivasa Rao and Elamanchili MLA P. Ramesh Babu.
Mr. Naidu said a package of Rs.61 crore would be offered to fishermen of Pudimadaka at the rate of Rs.1.25 lakh per family if they give consent for laying marine outfall pipeline for pharma units.
The Chief Minister said 600 villagers displaced due to land acquisition for the SEZ and other projects would be extended rehabilitation and resettlement package at Dupituru at a cost of Rs.40 crore.
Referring to the drinking water problem in Rambilli mandal, he said that he would release Rs.23 crore immediately to solve the problem.
