Ill-planned move, says BJP MLA

The Education Department enforcing the rules on schools after the children have paid their fees, bought uniforms and notebooks is not a correct decision, BJP Floor Leader in Assembly P. Vishnu Kumar Raju said.

“What stopped the district administration and the Education Department from taking action before the summer vacation began? The parents and the children would have made their efforts to get accommodation in other recognised schools,” the Visakha North MLA told The Hindu .

“By the admission of the District Education Officer there are some 5000 children who have been thrown out of school for no fault of theirs. Imagine how it would affect the psyche of the child and what kind of trauma the 10,000 parents would be undergoing. They are clueless on the way forward,” he said. The ill planned move has affected children of all categories, including some well placed persons. It has also rendered over 1500 to 2000 persons, employed by the affected schools, jobless, he added.

The District Administration and the Education Department should open a dedicated cell with a toll free number to guide the students and their parents on what to do.
