Huge haul of ganja

Five of eight-member gang arrested

The rural police arrested five of an eight-member gang, while they were transporting around 200 kg of ganja, at Nindugonda area of Rolugunta mandal in Visakhapatnam agency on Thursday.

Among the arrested, one is said to be a juvenile. All the arrested belong to GK Veedhi, G Madugula and a few other areas of agency mandals. According to Sub-Inspector of Rolugunta V. Rama Rao, the juvenile acted as pilot by driving a two-wheeler, while the main accused R. Raju was driving an auto-rickshaw with others, in which he was ferrying ganja in 10 gunny bags. After noticing the police, three accused escaped, while five were caught.

Procured from Agency

Police said ganja was procured from agency areas and was being shifted to Tuni via Addu Road by the smugglers. A case has been registered. Investigation is on.
