VUDA has decided to invite public sector helicopter services company Pawan Hans Limited to operate its heli-tourism services.
This is consequent to VUDA’s decision to cancel the MoU signed earlier with a private company.
“The Bhogapuram International Airport Company will coordinate with Pawan-Hans and its CEO has sought the details of tourist areas to which heli-tourism is proposed,” VUDA Vice Chairman T. Baburao Naidu told The Hindu on Thursday.
VUDA had decided to cancel the MoU reached with a private agency to run heli-tourism packages with the plan not taking off as scheduled, he said. Two packages are proposed from helipads provided at VUDA Park by VUDA.
Notice
A notice had been issued to the agency as it has failed to show any progress. Subsequently, cancellation order was issued, Mr Baburao Naidu said. An MoU was signed in August with the agency to operate the heli-tourism trips- one covering Kailasagiri to Bheemunipatnam and another to the agency areas like Araku. Subsequently, VUDA has developed two helipads and the MoU stipulated a payment of Rs.50,000 a month to the urban development authority for using the facilities.
The heli-tourism packages were proposed to start from last Dasara when the MoU was signed.
