Announcing a host of programmes for Maha Sivaratri, Rajya Sabha member T. Subbarami Reddy has said his family members will continue the programmes in subsequent years. As a part of the 24-hour Sivaratri celebration on the Beach, one crore ‘Sivalingams’ will be installed and ‘Mahakumbhabhishekam’ performed. The programme organised by T. Subbarami Reddy Lalita Kala Parishat will begin from 5 a.m.

In the evening, ‘Adhyathmika Nata Praveena’ award will be conferred on noted actor Suman who made a name for himself by playing the roles of deities Venkateswara, Siva and Rama. A host of film personalities will participate.

From 8 p.m. dance ballet on ‘Dakshayajnam’ will be presented by Nataraj and team. As many as 96 artistes will participate in the three-hour ballet. Head of Sarda Peetham Swaroopanandendra Swami will participate.

Jagaran

To keep people on “jagaran” involved in it, two mythological plays ‘Gayopakhyanam’ and ‘Varanasi’ would be staged by Vankayala Maruti Prasad and troupe from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mr. Subbarami Reddy told reporters here on Wednesday.

“I have been taking up various activities because of my love for the people of Visakhapatnam and my grandchildren will continue the Sivaratri programme and will announce it on Friday,” he said.

He was not doing it for votes and might not have any opportunity for asking votes, he said adding he contested last about 18 years ago. “I still have a Rajya Sabha term of four years,” he said. His family members were also not interested in politics, he said.

All political parties must work together for the Railway zone for Visakhapatnam, he said. The Chief Minister himself was asking for it and with the Railway Minister representing Andhra Pradesh there was no reason why it should not be given, he said.

The multi-star film he planned to produce with Chirajeevi and Pawan Kalyan would go on sets once director Trivikram Srinivas came out with a story, he said.

D. Varada Reddy, Yellapu Raghuram and Vengal Rao were present.
