Former AU English professor passes away

Former professor of English of Andhra University T. Ramesh Dutta passed away in Austin, US, on Thursday night. He was 82 and is survived by his wife, Prof. Padma Dutta, a former professor of English of AU, and three daughters.

He passed away at the residence of his eldest daughter Neeli Bendapudi, who is Executive Vice-Chancellor of Kansas University, Lawrence, USA.

Dr. Ramesh Dutta had a brilliant academic record, having secured gold medals in B.A. (special English) he studied in AC College, Guntur and M.A. at Andhra University. He joined AU as a lecturer in English in 1958 and went to US in 1969 as Fullbright scholar and received his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas. Former Rector of Andhra University A. Prasanna Kumar, close friend of the Prof. Ramesh Dutta, condoled his death.
