Follow new AICTE rules, colleges told

Andhra University Vice-Chancellor G. Nageswara Rao on Friday inaugurated an awareness meeting on the new rules of All India Council for Technical Education for approval to colleges.

AICTE Vice-Chairman M.P. Poonia stressed the need for experts being meticulous as their recommendations form the basis for approvals by the council.

Director (Approvals) Vimalesh Kumar Soni, who elaborated on the rules, said they consisted of six sections including one for new colleges and another for existing institutions and the remaining for other approvals. It took six months to prepare the rules applicable from 2017-18 and to make the simple without giving room for complexity.

Regional Officer R. Bala Murugan explained the significance of the meeting to apprise all concerned about the new rules for approvals and extension of the approvals given.

Registrar V. Uma Maheswara Rao and A.U. College of Engineering Principal V.S. Avadhani participated.
