All repairs required after a fire in Victoria Government Hospital should be carried out within 15 days for restoring it, Principal Secretary, Health, Poonam Malakondaiah has said. She visited the ward and burnt equipment along with Collector Pravin Kumar and Superintendent Padmaleela on Monday. She enquired from officials on the power supply situation before the accident and fire prevention equipment was working.

She suggested laying of underground power cables and circuit breakers for prevention of accidents.

She directed the APSMIDC Chief Engineer D. Ravindra to issue a show-cause notice to the deputy executive engineer on power interruption in the ward. She congratulated the staff nurses and others for their brave effort in saving new-borns.

Review meet

Later, speaking at board meeting of VIMS Ms Malakondaiah said diagnostic services, CT Scan, Radiology and blood bank will be started soon at VIMS.. All steps required, including appointment of doctors and staff, would be taken to develop the hospital and extend more services, she said.
