Communication skills must for success: educationalist

September 15, 2009 09:42 pm | Updated 09:42 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

“The match between technical skills and communication skills is a must for success in life,” said Raghu Educational Society Chairman K. Raghu here on Monday.

Speaking to a full house at the launch of The Hindu Education Plus Club (E-Plus Club) at Raghu Engineering College, he urged the students to take up the E-Plus club activity seriously to better their soft skills. Located about 40 km from Visakhapatnam, Raghu Engineering College at Dakamarri in Bheemili Mandal, became the second engineering college in north coastal Andhra Pradesh to start the E-Plus Club and the first college to start two clubs simultaneously.

Over 60 students across disciplines enrolled as club members at the launch ceremony held at the college premises on Monday.

Initiative

The initiative of starting E-Plus Clubs at colleges was taken by the newspaper’s weekly supplement, The Hindu- Education Plus, a year ago, when it was first launched by the paper’s Editor-in-Chief N. Ram at S.R.R. Government Degree and PG College in Karimnagar on November 20, 2008.

It was initially launched to help rural students develop their soft skills but after its success it is now being extended to other colleges in the cities and professional colleges.

Principal of the college G.S.N. Murthy in his address appreciated The Hindu for taking up such activities, which are quite interesting and reminded the students the importance of English language in the present context.

The Hindu chief of bureau B. Prabhakkar Sarma and regional general manager T.V. Suresh addressed the students. Principal Correspondent Sumit Bhattacharjee explained the functioning of E-Plus Clubs.
