After holding another round of meeting with representatives of political parties and disposing of claims completing special summary revision returning officers should be ready for final publication of the electoral rolls, Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal has said.
At a meeting with officials of three districts here on Friday, he said competitions should be conducted, voter identity cards should be given and new voters and senior voters should be honoured to mark the National Voters’ Day on January 25. He reviewed the voter enrolment for legislative council elections.
District Collector Pravin Kumar, Municipal Commissioner M. Hari Narayanan and District Revenue Officer Chandrasekhar Reddy participated.
Later participating in a face-to-face programme with students at Jubilee English Medium School at Jnanapuram, he told students those who completed 18 years may apply through official websites of the State or Central election commissions.
The awareness meeting was conducted for the first time in Visakhapatnam following the instructions of the Election Commission.
Online voting might become a possibility in the future, he said.
