A ‘Jan jagaran' rally was organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party here on Thursday to create awareness among the public on the growing corruption in the country and the spiralling prices of essential commodities during the Congress rule.

The rally which started at RTC Complex passed through Dwarakanagar and Seethammapeta before concluding at Gurudwara junction.

BJP national executive member K. Haribabu said that the time was ripe for ending the ‘corrupt rule of the Congress'. The Common Wealth Games were a shame on the nation with the siphoning of thousands of crores of rupees in the creation of amenities for the games, the land allotted to Kargil war widows and their families was cornered by Congress leaders and their relatives in the ‘Adarsh Housing Scam' in Maharashtra and LIC loan scam reflect the height of corruption in the country, he alleged and demanded that the UPA Government, which failed to control corruption, should step down immediately.

Dig at Congress

BJP city president M. Nagendra said that the Congress Government in the State has become synonymous for corruption during the last seven years.

Funds were siphoned off in the name of ‘Jala yagnam' and mineral wealth and land was being handed over to organisations and individuals who had links with the Government.

Party's State vice-president Bandaru Ranga Mohan Rao said that awareness rallies were being conducted across the country to expose the corrupt Congress which was putting the future of the country at stake.

Senior leader P.V. Chalapathi Rao, party leaders Kolli Ratna Kumari, Cheruvu Ramakotaiah, T. Subbarami Reddy, Ch. Kasi Viswanadha Raju, K. Raj Kumar, S.V.S. Prakash Reddy, B. Narendra Prakash, Kandala Srinivasa Rao and P.V.N. Madhav were among those who participated in the rally.
