Andaman-Nicobar C-in-C visits Eastern Naval Command

Commander-in-Chief, Andaman Nicobar (CINCAN) Vice-Admiral Vijay Shankar accompanied by his wife Girija Shankar arrived at the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) on Tuesday on a two-day visit. He held discussions with Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) Vice-Admiral Anup Singh. Later, he addressed officers of the Command on the “China Tibet Autonomous Region and the Maritime Dimensions,” at Samudrika Naval Auditorium.

Vice-Admiral Shankar is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla and was commissioned in the Indian Navy in January 1970. He is a specialist in Navigation and Direction. In the course of a distinguished career spanning nearly 39 years, he has held various Staff, Operational and Command appointments. He has been the Chief of Staff of Southern Naval Command and the Flag Officer Commanding of the Western Fleet. He served as the Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Operations) and also as the Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Doctrine and Training) and later as the Commander-in-Chief, Strategic Forces Command at New Delhi, prior to his present posting.
