The police nabbed the six-member gang that was involved in the sensational murder of one Patnala Santhosh Kumar (22) alias Hippi here on Saturday.

Santhosh Kumar, an autorickshaw driver and a dossier criminal, was brutally murdered on October 28 near Chandramma tiffin shop, Ramakrishnapuram under the Malkapuram Police Station limits by the six-member gang.

The accused was identified as Gurubilli Harish alias Kappadu (23), Choppa Hemanth Kumar (19), Kuppili Sunil (22), Karri Santhosh (27), Morsa Rajsekhar (26) and Gondesi Dhana Reddy (22), all residents of Malkapuram.

According to DCP (zone-II) Ramgopal Naik, the deceased was having an illicit affair with the wife of the main accused, Gurubilli Harish, and the latter nursed a grudge since 2013.

“Harish had made several efforts in vain and finally, on October 28, when Santhosh Kumar was retuning home in his auto, the gang intercepted, dragged him out and brutally stabbed a number of times,” he said.

The incident occurred close to the house of Santhosh Kumar and hearing the cries, his brother and mother rushed him to KGH where he was declared brought dead. Three of the accused -- Gurubilli Harish, Kuppili Sunil and Karri Santhosh -- have criminal track record and are listed under dossier criminals.

A case was registered under IPC Section 302.
