460 students get Abdul Kalam Pratibha awards

Each of them presented a cash award of ₹20,000

As many as 460 students who have exhibited outstanding talent were presented Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Pratibha scholarships by Tourism Minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao at a function held to mark the National Education Day, at the VMRDA Children’s Arena here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister called upon the awardees to pursue higher studies with the same zeal and bring laurels to the nation. The awards were being given every year on November 11, marking the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first Eduction Minister of India.

participating in the programme, VMRDA Chairman Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao called upon the students to imbibe the spirit of competition.

Collector V. Vinay Chand said that the awards were being given to students in recognition of their outstanding outstanding merit. He called upon the students not to keep away from the social media and concentrate on their studies and health.

He recalled the stellar role played by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad in the development of education. The Minister handed over cheques for ₹20,000 to each of 460 students.

Tributes paid to Maulana

Earlier, the Minister, Collector, VMRDA Chairman and other dignitaties paid tributes to Maulana Abul Kalam azad and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

MLAs Karanam Dharmasri and Golla Babu Rao also spoke on the occasion.

DEO Ramalingeswara Reddy and Andhra University Registrar Krishna Kumar were present.
