The 26th Convocation of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was held on Friday. The main convocation was held in New Delhi during which President Pranab Mukherjee delivered the convocation address and the function was transmitted live to all the 48 Regional Centres of IGNOU through teleconferencing mode. The Regional Centres held their convocations simultaneously after the New Delhi event was completed. Vice-Chancellor of Damodaram Sanjeevaiah National Law University R.G.B. Bhagvath Kumar was the chief guest here and delivered the convocation address.
He also presented degrees and diplomas to 292 students of the Regional Centre.
A student of PG Diploma in Financial Management (PGDFM) Anjana Chamoli received gold medal for standing first in the course.
Excellence
Prof. Bhagavath Kumar appealed to graduates to aim for excellence in whatever field they choose and contribute to the betterment of the society.
New initiatives
Regional Director S. Raja Rao presented a report on the activities and new initiatives of the Regional Centre. Efforts were on to open more Study Centres in second level towns and other facilities to the students, Dr. Raja Rao said.
