Two youths in their twenties were allegedly murdered during drunken brawls in separate incidents on the Kanuma day on Wednesday. According to police, in both the cases, the victims were reportedly stabbed by broken liquor bottles.
In the first incident, Garikina Satish (23) was allegedly killed by one Vasupalli Akhil and his brother Vasupalli Nani. The brothers reportedly stabbed Satish at China Nagamayyapalem under Bheemili police station limits on Wednesday night.
Satish, who was working as a helper in a mechanized fishing boat at Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour, had come home in Bheemili for the Sankranti festival. According to sources, Akhil and Nani exchanged heated arguments with Satish over a petty issue on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the brothers allegedly consumed liquor and went to Satish’s house and stabbed him to death with a broken beer bottle and fled. Bheemili SI P. Srinu registered a case. The police suspect old rivalry had led to the murder of Satish, who was recently married.
In another incident, a drunken brawl allegedly led to the murder of an auto-rickshaw driver, Perla Dhanaraju in Gangavaram . The police said that P. Naresh allegedly attacked Dhanaraju with a broken liquor bottle after a brawl at a liquor party. Dhanaraju died at the spot. Naresh was taken into custody .
