Two bids were received for construction of a flyover at NAD Kotha Road on the last day for the receipt on Monday.

The bids have been invited on Engineering-Procurement-Construction (EPC) contract.

In the EPC procedure, the contractor has to submit designs with the parameters stipulated like lane width, gradient number of vehicles that will pass, speed etc for the flyover.

“The EPC procedure would have flexibility for designs and we expect improvements from what a Chennai-based agency did last time,” VUDA Vice-Chairman P Basanth Kumar said.

The contractor may also include research elements later and obtain approval, he said.

VUDA intends to raise resources afresh for the flyover estimated to cost around ₹150 crore.

“It will take a week for technical and financial evaluation and the two bids will be whetted by NIT or IIT,” VUDA Chief Engineer V Chandraih said.

Though big companies tried to bid they failed to obtain board approval for taking up a work of a lower estimation.

Once the bid is awarded, the agency will have 18 months to complete the project.
