Stresses need for segregation at source

Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) M Hari Narayanan ordered his officials to take up 100% door-to-door garbage collection with vehicles from February 24, with a proper procedure, in all zones. He conducted a meeting with the public health wing officials on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Hari Narayanan said that wet and dry wastes should be picked up from houses through vehicles, from interior areas of Zone I,V and VI, especially. He also said that road sweeping, drain cleaning and door-to-door collections should be done properly. He said that the timings of door-to-door collection, vehicle routes and points of collection should be informed to people. The GVMC Commissioner also asked the officials to create awareness about source segregation among public. He asked the officials to prepare an action plan regarding the seasonal diseases and implement it from March 1 without fail.
