1 lakh each to be paid to kin of sunstroke victims

A compensation of Rs. 1 lakh has to be paid to the family of a person who died due to sunstroke and post-mortem is not necessary for payment of the amount as per the Government order, Collector N. Yuvaraj told Tahsildars and MDOs during a video conference here on Wednesday.

The compensation should be paid only after a report from a three-member committee consisting of local Tahsildar, Sub-Inspector and Senior Health Officer and hereditary certificate were submitted, he said and added that compensation need not be paid again under the ‘Apatbandhu’ scheme.

According to an official statement issued late in the evening, a total of 123 persons died due to sunstroke in the district.
