The Telugu Desam Party has criticised the main Opposition YSR Congress (YSRC) and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) of the neighbouring State for their deliberate attempts to malign the image of the ruling party.
TDP leaders and cadre staged protests in different parts of the State as well as in Hyderabad on Wednesday, condemning the attitude of the rival parties’ efforts to lower the prestige of the ruling party through ‘devious means’.
The TDP activists burnt the effigy of TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao in Hyderabad, alleging that the latter had implicated TDP MLA A. Revanth Reddy in the note-for-vote scam.
Barely couple of days after the TDP MLA was arrested for his attempts to bribe a nominated MLA, cash bags found in the house of Minister Peethala Sujatha in West Godavari district created a flutter in the political circles on Wednesday.
Noticing the abandoned cash bags, the Minister called the SP Bhaskar Bushan and informed him about the incident. The SP said a case had been registered under Section 102 of the IPC and a hunt was launched to trace a woman Sri Lakshmi who is reported to have left the bags containing the cash and a DSC hall ticket.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu charged the TRS leadership with playing a devious game and buying over his party MLAs for winning the MLC elections. “The TRS is deliberately creating problems,” he said.
Mr. Naidu wanted the present secret ballot system for election of MLCs to be done away with as it was giving scope for corrupt practices.
