Former MLA and YSRC leader Jogi Ramesh released a poster here on Friday decrying the Congress Working Committee’s decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.
At a press conference he said that both AICC president Sonia Gandhi and Telugu Desam Party supremo Nara Chandrababu Naidu will attract the wrath of the Telugu people for bifurcating the State. The poster depicts the cartoon images of Ms. Sonia and Mr. Naidu cutting Andhra Pradesh with a saw. Terming the resignation of Congress and TDP MLAs a big farce, the former MLA dared both Ms. Sonia Gandhi and Mr. Chandrababu to either accept the resignations or suspend the MLAs on disciplinary grounds. “They will not do that as they will fall short of majority in the house,” he said and alleged that “there was a tacit understanding between the Congress, TDP and BJP in this whole Telangana drama.” The YSRC in its first plenary had declared that it would respect the feelings of the Telangana people. Why then this hue and cry for a samaikhiya Andhra, Mr. Ramesh asked.
“We still respect the feelings and we vouch for the development of the region and its people, but not with separation of the region,” he said. Earlier, in the day another former MLA and YSRC leader Adusumilli Jayaprakash said that the CWC had insulted Potti Sreeramulu and all his efforts have been negated with this decision.
“Andhra Pradesh was carved out after a sustained struggle. The CWC seems to have no respect for the decisions made by its senior leaders such as Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi,” he added.
‘Vanta varpu’
At One Town area YSRC’s city unit convenor Jaleel Khan organised a ‘vanta varpu’ programme as part of the party’s protest and senior leader Vangaveeti Radha organised a letter campaign addressed to Sonia Gandhi on Bandar Road.
